Cool Red Butterfly in Adobe FlashIn order to understand how we did this one, please read first Lots of butterflies. This is basically the same technique but with few differences.
First thing you can notice is, we used a new, more professional design for the butterfly. With this new shape, we changed the view point because now we are looking from above, rather then from one side as in the first example .The rest is the same, same way of cutting the butterfly, same way of moving the wings.
When we explained the first example we spoke about two ways of moving the butterfly, here we used the second: we moved the Movie Clip on a path set by a Guide Layer. So go back and read the indications about this alternative technique. We also added a few extra stuff for the butterfly's appearance. We made it stop on a flower by shrinking the Clip and stopping the wings motion, and made it go back again in the air. We stopped the wings by using: the following ActionScript code "name.stop();" (where "name" is the name of the Movie Clip with the butterfly, "a" in our example). Because of the great design for the butterfly, we let this one alone so it is better seen in the animation. The conclusion of these explains can be a suggestion for you to do what we did in this second example: we modified the first to take it to another level. You do the same with this. Good Luck! If you really like butterflies, check Bonus Effects for a surprise.
